You better watch out You better not cryThis little ditty sums up modern thoughts of theology. You better be good because Santa, um, I mean God is watching you , and is making a list. If you do good, you get treats, er eternal life. If you do bad, you get coal, um OK hell.
Better not pout I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He's making a list And checking it twice;
He's gonna find outWho's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake!
Is that what the Bible says?
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:22-25 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: [23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [24] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
None of us are without sin. None of us can do anything to save ourselves. We are saved by faith through grace. We can't work out way there
